'Arctic Science Field Logistics' is a non-profitable association which main goal is to provide expertise and logistics support for arctic research. ASFL have wide experience in the Arctic areas, and have successfully conducted field expeditions both in Svalbard, in Greenland and at the North Pole sampling for many different research institutes and universities, including IRIS (International Research Institute of Stavanger), UNIS (University Center in Svalbard), CNRS (National Center for Scientific Research), Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea).
In 2012, the association was awarded as the "Best scientific expedition of the year" by the international MXP (Millet Expedition Project) contest, for its scientific expedition at the North Pole. In 2013 and 2014 their field base was located in the sea-ice on the east coast of Greenland. On board the sailing boat "ARGELVOR", ASFL overwintered in the ice in Scoresbysund (see map) conducting sampling and experimental set-up on the ice.
The scientific work performed by ASFL includes microbiological sampling and processing, marine biology and ecology survey and in situ measurements, sampling and set-up for chemical and ecotoxicology studies.
